Quality SINGER 66 Decals
Our complete decal sets include all the decals you need for a complete restoration on your vintage Singer sewing machine.
Each decal set consists of high quality thermal laser print film decals on waterslide paper. The larger, longer decals around the machine base have been broken down into smaller pieces that you'll need to apply one at a time and line up.
All our decals are carefully packaged and shipped direct to you via the trusty United States Postal Service first class mail. International orders are welcome. We will calculate your individual postage cost after you submit your order and invoice for the balance due.
Our Red Eye Decals are printed using five color films and have a solid white base to give you the brightest, most authentic reproductions available. When you compare our decals to the competitor's, not only will you find a lower price for ours, but you would also notice (if you have the keen eagle-eye) that our decals are truly accurate and correct in every flourish, swirl, flower, and line. Otherwise, what is the point of making a reproduction?
We are very proud to be the first and only to reproduce the exotic Lotus decals with accuracy. After rescuing my first Red Eye, I came across the Lotus and had to have one as well. I use these machines, so a back-up isn't a bad thing, plus they are simply gorgeous to display! My Lotus was in terrible shape and I could barely make out the decal details without close inspection and a flashlight. So of course I knew I had to reproduce these as well and we have had a lot of requests for them from you too. The Lotus set is a bit more pricey than her American cousin, but that is because we first lay down a solid base of metallic gold film and print four colors on top of that to get the same look as the original decals had. We go through the trouble to do it right so our decals closest resemble the original decals on your antique sewing machine.
We design our decals from scratch, based off actual antique sewing machines to give you the most accurate reproduction decals that exist for these machines. These decals are designed to be applied to machines that have been stripped down, repainted, and have a smooth, glossy surface. After the decals are applied, you will need to apply a protective clear coat over the entire machine. Please download the Instructions for recommendations.
Restoration Decals Tips & Tricks
Before you dive in to restoring your old Singer sewing machine, know that it is not going to be an easy task, but we promise when done right it is absolutely worth the trouble! In your tool kit you will need time and patience along with your machine, stripping material, paint, restoration decal set, decal solutions, and protective clear coat paint.
Here are some tips regarding the decal installation on your repainted machine from a professional restorer specializing in sewing machines...
Micro Sol and Micro Set solutions made by Microscale will greatly improve your results. The size of some of these decals makes them difficult to apply to such a curved surface without Micro Sol. It is very time consuming to apply these decals, but the finished product is soooo worth the extra care and minor cost of these solutions. It also softens the edges of the decals so when clear coat is applied there isn't such a pronounced ridge. Take your time and practice with the extra decals included in your purchase. Good practice is using the solutions to apply a decal to a very curved glass to give you an idea how they (the solutions) work with these decals.
"Micro Set is a very versatile decal setting solution that does several things to the Microscale Decals to improve application. Micro Set should be applied to the surface of the model where you will be sliding off the decal. Micro Set prepares the surface with special wetting agents that cuts the oils in new paint and converts the adhesive on the back of the decal to a stronger and more lasting one. And finally, Micro Set slightly softens the decals film to make it more flexible so that it can conform better to the model's surface. Better adhesion by the decal to the model prevents tiny air bells from occurring and results in an invisible carrier film or the so called 'painted on look'. "
"Micro Sol setting solution is for the most difficult irregular surfaces you find on models. It completely softens the Microscale Decal allowing it to drape down onto the surface of the model conforming perfectly and without distortion. You can get the most amazing results in seemingly impossible places, because Micro Sol actually makes the decal part of the paint. For that reason you should coat Micro Sol on for only a few seconds and then leave it alone, it does the work. Do not touch until dry as the decal is very soft at this stage and could be easily damaged. "
